TEGS is a two-pronged approach to develop 8th grade science curriculum and to provide professional development to teachers using this curriculum.
Six teacher training institutes were held during the summer of 2004. More than 80 8th grade science teachers were trained and will participate in follow-up during the 2004 - 05 academic year. An additional 60 teachers will be trained on the curriculum by attending professional development training one Saturday each month throughout the upcoming year.
TCET staff and faculty from the Department of Teacher Education and Administration at the University of North Texas collaborated on the development of curriculum and online resources for this project. TEGS was funded by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board through the Teacher Quality program.
